Program for International Students
1.
This program is particularly meaningful for those students from developing countries who have their own idea about establishing a social enterprise or who have experience working with a social enterprise in the community.
2.
With the support of the faculty members and professional consultants, foreign students will prepare their own business plans for social enterprises in pairs with Japanese students. The feasibility studies will be conducted in the field for selected plans with financial assistance from the program. In order for students to initiate their own enterprise in their home countries, the faculty members will provide students with necessary guidance and support. Japanese students will also provide a support to the scheme in Japan after the foreign students return to their home countries to implement their plans.
3.
If there are technical matters to be resolved in order to implement the plans, university researchers will be asked to give technical advice to help solve these problems. In addition, financial assistance can be sought from Japanese funding agencies or United Nations agencies.
4.
In addition, students will be given opportunities to meet social entrepreneurs or visit social enterprises in Japan.
Each student will be required to work as an intern with a nonprofit organization, such as Big Issue Japan and Asaza Foundation, which have demonstrated excellent entrepreneurships with innovative ideas. In addition, students will visit similar social entrepreneurial projects in foreign countries. Analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of these projects, students will make a plan as to how to improve social entrepreneurial projects in Japan.

| I am from a developing region. Solving social problems and make a contribution to my region is one of my dreams. When I got the information about the lecture on "Business Plan Development Practice for Social Entrepreneurs" I was so excited.
The first lecture was on "Basics of starting up Social Entrepreneurship". The lecture started with self introduction. Meeting students who are also longing for making contribution to the society, I was inspired a lot by them. Mr. Haruhisa Morimoto who is Managing Director of Astoria Consulting Group, LLC gave the lecture on what is social entrepreneurship, how to start up business and how to make a business plan combining our own experience in the field. He is a really well-seasoned person. I really leant a lot from his very first lecture. From next lecture we are going to work on our specific business plans. I hope I could get my future business plan by the end of this lecture. I wish to express my gratitude to Takashi Watanabe, Kazuo Inoue who provided us with the great opportunity. |
